Elena Dementieva, world number five, has been forced to withdraw from Wimbledon because of a calf injury.
She suffered the injury during the French Open semifinal against Francesca Schiavone and was forced to retire from Roland Garros.
Dementieva said on her website that she has not fully recovered from the injury and will be unable to play in the year's third Grand Slam event, which begins next Monday at the All England Club.
"Elena Dementieva will not play at Wimbledon this year. She hasn't recovered from the calf injury that forced her to retire at Roland Garros."
Dementieva, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the last two years, losing to Venus Williams in 2008 and Serena Williams in 2009, has not missed a major since she played her first grand slam event at the 1999 Australian Open. A runner-up at Roland Garros and the US Open, she has appeared in 46 consecutive majors.
