Jelena Jankovic won her second tour title of the year after defeating fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3 6-2 at the China Open.
JJ looked really confident in the final of the $600,000 Beijing tournament, getting revenge for her quarter-final defeat by Kuznetsova at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo last week.
"I did what I needed to do to win the match. My level of tennis was enough to win. If she was not in the top of her game I could not really do anything but I think I played good tactically," Jankovic said.
"I really was forcing some of the shots and didn't really allow her to play her game."
"She does not really have a good record in the finals. She kind of has that problem in the back of her mind and it always helps when you are going to play (under such circumstances)," said Jankovic.
Earlier, a disappointed Kuznetsova, who has lost all five finals she has played this year, said: "She was stable like she always does but I could not even let her show a good game because I was doing all the mistakes."
After this victory Jelena is just 21 points behind No. 1 Serena Williams in the WTA rankings. They are both scheduled to play in Stuttgart, Germany, in the next WTA event. Six other 10 top players will also participate.
