Ana's great results in the last year and becoming No.1 at the WTA Sony Ericsson Rankings has prompted her to be recognised by the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards, the prestigious North American prizes organised by ESPN television and voted for by fans.

Ana is nominated in the Best Female Tennis Player and Best Breakthrough Athlete categories. She will compete against Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova for the former accolade, while in the latter she is up against Stephen Curry (basketball), Adrian Peterson (American Football) and Kyle Busch (Nascar racing)

The winners will be announced during a star-studded ceremony, hosted by Justin Timberlake on Sunday 20 July in Los Angeles.
