Petra Kvitova defeated Andrea Petkovic 61 63 to win Brisbane International, her second WTA title. She won Hobart International in 2009.
"It's strange, I won my first tournament of the season two years ago and did the same this year," Kvitova said. "I don't know if that means I had good preparation in the off-season or that I like Australia - I'm not sure! I played very well here. I got better and better each round and by the end I had a lot of confidence."
"Petra played a fantastic match from beginning to end," Petkovic said. "She was hitting winners all over. I felt heavy on the court - I felt like I was just 1% less ready than in my other matches, but it made such a big difference tonight. But I'll still take a lot of confidence out of this week - the way I played and even today, how I stayed positive in the second set. That's important for me."
In the doubles final, Pavlyuchenkova and Alisa Kleybanova beat Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska, 63 75.
"We played solid the whole tournament," said Pavlyuchenkova, who won her second WTA doubles title. "Klaudia and Alicja were more aggressive in the second set and were leading, but then we just kept on fighting."
"We've known each other for so many years. We played doubles together in juniors, so it's natural," said Kleybanova, who won her fourth WTA doubles title. "Anastasia and I have a lot of fun on the court together, even though most of the time when we're laughing it doesn't have anything to do with tennis!"
