Caroline Wozniacki defeated Klara Zakapolova 6-2, 7-6 (7/5) to win the the inaugural e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open in her native Denmark, her eight WTA Tour title.

"It was nice to play a tournament again after a long break. I'm healthy again and I really wanted some matches," Wozniacki said. "The crowd, as always, was great. Here in Denmark there's always lots of things for me to see and do, and it was a busy week for me, but I enjoyed it. It's nice to see so many people come and watch me play. It's great for Danish tennis. I really enjoyed my week."

This was Caro's third title of the year, finishing runner-up at Indian Wells (losing to Jelena Jankovic) and winning Ponte Vedra Beach.

Zakopalova, who beat the second-seeded Li Na in the semifinals, is now 2-8 in finals.

"I was a little bit nervous in the beginning. I improved a little bit in the second set, but not enough," Zakopalova said. "It's a shame for me, but Caroline was playing so consistently and not making any mistakes. Mentally she's so strong. It was a very good week for me and it gives me a lot of confidence now going into the US Open. I'm looking forward to come back next year."

In the doubles final, Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld beat Vitalia Diatchenko and Tatiana Poutchek, 64 64. This was second Tour doubles title for Goerges and 11th for Groenefeld.

"You could say we have a clean record so far," Groenefeld said. "We're both really happy to win the title this week. We'll be playing the US Open together. I won't be going to Asia this year as my singles ranking dropped a little bit, but we'll try to commit for the whole year next year and see how it goes."

"It was a great week," Goerges said. "We didn't drop a set. We're really happy!"

Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4, 6-7 (7/9), 6-3 to win the WTA San Diego Open. This was her 13th career title but the first one since she beat Radwanska in the Beijing final last October.

"I had my advantages in the second set and it was very hard to forget them, but I started all over again. I had to be stronger. I believe I am, and I proved it," Kuznetsova said. "It was a big relief to win, because it had been such a long time since my last title, also because of losing the second set like that."

It was the first final for both players since 10 months ago in China.

Kuznetsova, who had not tumbled outside the top 20 since February of 2004, will jump back into the WTA's top 20, while Radwanska will advance to ninth but that was little consolation.

"It's always disappointing to lose a match, especially a final, but in the important moments at the end she was better," Radwanska said. "She started playing better and more consistently in the third. I had chances but didn't use them."

In the doubles final, Maria Kirilenko and Zheng Jie beat Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs 64 64 to win their first title together. It was 7th Tour doubles title for Kirilenko and 13th for Zheng.

David Nalbandian defeated Marcos Baghdatis 6-2, 7-6(4) to win Washington Classic title, his first ATP title since January 2009 at Sydney.

"It’s really important because we were working very hard," said the Argentine. "It has been a year and a half fighting with the surgery and the recovery; we are so happy and this victory made me feel very good again...not only with the rankings, with my game, with everything. It was a good win."

"I didn’t expect to win the first tournament when I came," said Nalbandian. "When I started hitting the ball and I hit good after the first match and the second one, I really feel good. But in the beginning, if I had to bet, I would bet on myself, of course."

"I think I played very good throughout the week here," said Nalbandian. "I had a few moments in some matches where I did not play too good. In the rest, I had great moments, great matches. And then the win and I’m so happy for it."

Nalbandian, who dropped to No. 117 in the South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings, is projected to rise back into the Top 50 at around No. 45.

Baghdatis, ranked 25th, failed in a bid for his fifth career ATP title. He will move to 21st after a rankings slide from the top 150 last year with wrist and back injuries.

"I will never forget where I come from," said Baghdatis. "I was ranked 150 last year and now I maybe touched Top 20 this year. I am looking forward to the future and playing better."

In the doubles final, Mardy Fish and Mark Knowles beat Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek 4-6, 7-6(7), 10-7 to win their second ATP World Tour title together.

"Mardy is a phenomenal doubles player and a phenomenal singles player, so it’s big to find the right partner,"said Knowles. "He’s a great partner. We get along well and we understand the nature of the business."

"I still enjoy playing," said Knowles. "I still enjoy competing. It’s a challenge playing against these guys. I’ve seen the game evolve from when I first started. It still gives you a high to compete at this level and to win at this level."
