Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova defeated Elena Vesnina and Vera Zvonareva 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 to win Wimbledon title, their first Grand Slam title.
"I'm sure for both of us it really hasn't gotten in our heads that we just won Wimbledon," a thrilled King said. "We went into each match to play each match. We weren't thinking about winning, or even winning the tournament.
"It's kind of scary. I love doubles. I love playing with Slava. She's a great friend of mine. It's best to have this title with her."
"We decided to play three tournaments. In Birmingham we made the semifinals and in 's-Hertogenbosch we made the finals, so I said now we have to win Wimbledon," Shvedova said. "We were a little bit nervous because it was our first time playing on Centre Court, but we just tried to enjoy it. We had fun."
