2010 French Open - Day Two

S. WILLIAMS/S. Voegele
76(2) 62

Q. How did you feel about your first match of this year's French Open?
SERENA WILLIAMS: I definitely didn't feel good about it. At least I won. I think I'm still in the tournament; that's what matters.

Q. What were you not pleased with?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Across the board, nothing, really, just to be honest.

Q. In the first set there were a couple break points, but you came through with some very strong serving. Is that sort of always in the back of your mind that if other things go wrong, that you do have a tremendous serve that can help you out of tight spots?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Yeah, I guess. I didn't think about that today. I just thought let's hit an ace here. So I don't think about whether it's good or not or that I have a great serve that's gonna get me out of trouble.
Maybe I should think about that more often.

Q. Caroline Wozniacki is the only teenager in the top 25 in the WTA. Why do you think that is?
SERENA WILLIAMS: I think pretty much everyone got older and aged. I was also a teenager once. I was in the top 25, but I ended up getting older, unfortunately. It's inevitable.

Q. Tell us about your Twittering, your tweeting and what you enjoy doing about that. And secondly, I asked your sister the same thing about your outfits. How many outfits do you bring to every tournament?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, I tweet a lot. I have just really I don't know. I think it's cool. Sometimes I just tweet what's on my mind and sometimes maybe a little too much.
I have a lot of fun with it. I think it's a cool way of connecting with, you know, the die hard fans. For me, I follow Green Day on Twitter, and whenever they tweet I get incredibly excited. I'm like, Oh, my God. I'm so happy and I really like to know what's going on in their lives because I'm a die hard Green Day fanatic.
For those people that like me half as much as I like them, I like to keep them in the loop with my life.
I always have seven outfits for singles and six for doubles.

Q. Do you wear them a second time?
SERENA WILLIAMS: No. I just wear them once, like everything else. I only wear things once.

Q. Today's game, you said you weren't happy particularly with any aspects of your game. Can you explain why it wasn't firing for you today?
SERENA WILLIAMS: I don't know. I was practicing so well, and I'm doing so well in practice, and it just didn't work for me today. So with that being said, I'm happy to win and just go on to the next round.

Q. But in terms of preparing for the next round, is there something in particular that you're gonna be working on, or is it simply a matter of a different day, different game?
SERENA WILLIAMS: A different day, a better game; a different day, a different game. That's how I think about it.

Q. Have you ever already talked about your next opponent, the German, Julia Goerges? She said, Well, Serena Williams, whatever. What do you expect from her?
SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, everyone I play is tough. I hit with a German, so, you know, I expect him to know her game very well.

Q. What do you like about Twitter? I'm writing a story on that. You're tweeting a lot.
SERENA WILLIAMS: I don't know. I like to see the reaction. Also, like, you can follow news on Twitter. You can hear the latest news really fast.
It's just the future, and this is just the beginning of, you know, another Internet explosion. I like it. I can just stay in touch with my fans.
