Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin will play an exhibition "Best of Belgium" at the 40,000-capacity King Baudouin stadium in Brussels on July 8 and will attempt to beat the record crowd!
Henin welcomed the initiative, saying: "Kim and I both like challenges. Now together we can break this record, we will certainly go for it."
The current record is the 30,492 spectators who watched the 'Battle of the Sexes' clash between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs at the Houston Astrodome in Houston in 1973.
Clijsters added at Tuesday's press conference: "I have been a supporter in the stadium many times and I am glad I can now stand in the middle. It will be something special and unique. I am very honoured that I can do this with Justine."
Organiser Bob Verbeeck revealed King will be invited to be an honorary umpire at the match.
Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme, whose government backs the match said: "It is extraordinary. It is almost surreal. When I talk to world leaders, whether it is in China or the United States, they talk about Kim and Justine."
