Serbia's Fed Cup team has scored two victories in the Belgrade tie against Japan today.
Ana Ivanovic defeated Ai Sugiyama in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
"I am really happy that I was able to play the big points well," Ana said in a courtside post-match interview in the Belgrade Arena stadium.
"I didn't feel much pressure because it was the first match of the tie but while I became a bit nervous during the match, the crowd was splendid and really helped me at tough times," added the world number eight.
Jelena Jankovic followed that up with an even more impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory against 18-year-old Ayumi Morita, ranked 86.
"It's a special feeling to play in front of... my family, friends, the (home) public," she said after the match that lasted 59 minutes.
"I'm really excited that I was able to win today and give our team a second point, but we need one more to progress."
The matches were played at the Belgrade Arena in front of some 13,000 fans.
