Well, Nole definitely has no luck at the beginning of this year! He had a food poisoning before the start of the tournament in Marseille! Nole probably eat something in the restaurant in this French city, which caused him a strong pain in stomach and he had to miss practice before the start of tournaments.
Although his doctor recommended not to play, Novak will play today against Jeremy Chardy, which will be his first match after the withdrawal in the quarterfinal of Aussie Open. Novak's manager Amit Naor confirmed that Novak did have food poisoning, but that the situation is not so dramatic as it could be in similar situations.
"Novak felt stomach pain and found out that he have food poisoning. The doctor recommended him to take a day rest, but Novak continued with practicing the next day. He is now OK, and can hardly wait to return to competition, " said Novak's manager.
Because of the series of health problems Novak had since the beginning of the year, Novak did detailed medical examinations in the KBC "Dr Dragiša Mišović" during his stay in Belgrade.
"He had to do all tests to check if everything is OK with his health after the withdrawal in Melbourne. And it was also his regular health check. We can say that everything is all right and tests confirmed that Novak is completely healthy! The tests also confirmed that in Australia the main reason for Novak's withdrawal was that unbearable heath." confirmed Amit Naor.
According to the Serbian Press magazine, Novak did the ultrasound and recording of the the lungs, as well as the laboratory examinations. The goal was to find out whether the weakness and pain in the body that he felt during the match with Andy Roddick at the Aussie Open, and which made him to practically surrender without a fight, have a deeper physiological reason. Luckily, tests showed that Novak only had a cold, and that he is completely healthy and ready for the season. This was confirmed by the Deputy Director KBC "Dragiša Mišović", Professor Dr. Dragan Radovanovic.
I really hope that this food poisoning will not force him to withdraw from Marseilles.
