Victoria Azarenka defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-1 6-3 in the final of the Regions Morgan Championships to win her second title of the year. It took her just 70 minutes to eliminate Wozniacki, the tournament's top seed.
"I started well, putting a lot of pressure on her. I did everything I should have done," said Azarenka. "I was commanding the points. I think I got more confidence as the match went on, too. I was down 2-0 in the third set in my semifinal, and winning that tough match really helped me against Caroline in the final today."
This was Wozniacki's fifth career final appearance. She has three career titles with the last one coming at the AIG Japan Open in Tokyo in October 2008.
"She was just playing great; I didn't feel I was playing badly," said Wozniacki. "I felt like everything I hit just came back faster. I had beaten her before and I was hoping it would turn out that way again, but she just played a great match. There wasn't too much I could do."
