Novak Djokovic advanced to his first Masters Cup final after defeating Gilles Simon 4-6 6-3 7-5.
"I'm excited about my win. It's the Masters Cup, the best eight players in the world this year are participating," said Novak who lost all of his matches without winning a set on his Masters Cup debut last year.
"It's a huge success for me to reach the final. I like to celebrate this success, I see nothing bad in it.
"My injury is nothing too serious. It was just cramping because of the amount of running and amount of rallies we had. So I just had to treat it a little bit in order to finish the match."
"It would be great if I can end up with the title. I didn't have such a great last couple of months of the season."
Gilles Simon won his ticket to the season finale when Rafael Nadal pulled out injured. He beat defending champion Roger Federer in a round-robin match.
"This match was so long, so there are so many things to say," said Simon. "But the only thing is he was very aggressive, more than me. He was a little bit lucky sometimes, touching many lines, and finally he won the match."
"I defeated the number two, I played three sets in three hours against the number three so that'll give me confidence for next year," said the 23-year-old, who will finish the year as world number seven.
Nikolay Davydenko defeated Andy Murray 7-5 6-2 to set up a Masters Cup final against Novak Djokovic on Saturday.
"I was supposed to be flying tomorrow -- I'll have to change my flight!" said Davydenko.
"Maybe I have a chance in the final. I lost when we played before but it's a different situation tomorrow.
"I was lucky Murray beat Federer yesterday," said 27-year-old Davydenko.
"But I played very well today and won ... he wanted to show he was the best player by beating Federer so maybe he was really tired."
Andy Murray knocked out Federer in a thrilling three-set match late on Friday, the first occasion the four-time champion has failed to reach the semi-finals in seven straight visits.
"Naturally I was going to be tired, I played a long match last night but he played a lot better than me in the circumstances," said Murray, who reiterated that he had no regrets about giving his all against Federer.
