Venus Williams defeated Flavia Pennetta 7-6 6-2 in Sunday's Zurich Open final.
"I obviously had a great service game today and it was the first time ever that I won a game like that (by hitting four straight aces)," said Williams.
"In the second set I just started getting a better rhythm and made it harder for her to get back."
By winning her second title of 2008, Venus clinched a spot at the season-ending WTA Tour Championship in Doha next month.
"I haven't managed to play at the Championships since 2002 so obviously I'm excited to be healthy enough to play there this year," Williams told reporters.
"To have this good week going into the Championships, working on more consistency in my game and not having so many errors, should also help me in Doha, assuming now that I'll be there."
Andy Murray defeated Gilles Simon 6-4, 7-6 to win the Madrid Masters and become the first Briton to win four titles in a season.
"The serve is the reason I won the tournament because today Gilles was hitting the ball better than me from the back of the court," Murray said.
"He was obviously more tired than me. I didn't play best best, but really I'm really happy I won."
Simon also enjoyed a tremendous week, following up wins over the likes of Igor Andreev and James Blake by knocking off top seed Rafael Nadal of Spain in three sets in the semifinals.
"I was really tired today. I didn't move like I usually do and Andy knew it. He just wanted to kill me, just wanted to make me run," said Simon.
