David Nalbandian defeated Swede Robin Soderling 6-2 5-7 6-3 on Sunday and win the Stockholm Open.

It was the ninth title for Nalbandian, who goes to the Madrid Masters on Monday as the defending champion.

"It was a great final, we both played a good match," said Nalbandian.

"I played great all week, almost perfect every match here. I lost a set today but that's part of the game."


Igor Kunitsyn upset former world number one Marat Safin 7-6 6-7 6-3 in an all-Russian Kremlin Cup final to clinch his maiden title on Sunday.


This was first ATP final for the 71st-ranked Kunitsyn.

"This is beyond my wildest dreams," Kunitsyn told reporters.

"I'd never have expected to beat Marat in the final in Moscow," added the 27-year-old from Vladivostok, who took home $171,000 in winnings to more than double his earnings for the year.


German qualifier and world number 125 Philipp Petzschner defeated eighth seed Gael Monfils 6-4 6-4 in the Vienna Open final.


"I don't think I have any feelings left," said Petzschner.

"It was always my long term-aim to break into the top 100," he added when asked about an anticipated rise of around 50 places in Monday's rankings. "To do it like this is just incredible. I feel like my arm has gained about two kilos."
