Ana Ivanovic Beijing Pre Press Conference

Posted by Lana On 9/23/2008 10:54:00 AM

Q: After you won the French Open and reached to No.1 in women’s singles you have not got any other titles this year. Can you self analyze and tell us what’s going on?
Ana: It was really my peak time this year in French Open. In Wimbledon I felt hard in energy and emotional level, especially the injury I have suffered since last month. Before U.S. Open I only got 5 days to practice. It was too short for such an important tournament. Recently I feel less pain and I begin to practice to get back to track. I think I need to be patient and try to adjust to the changes. I’m really happy to be back.

Q: Your last time in Beijing was the Olympic Games. You only stayed here for 3 days and unfortunately you didn’t attend the matches. This time you come here for China Open which is different to you. Can you tell us your feeling about this? Do you think you have prepared enough mentally and physically?
Ana: As you said, my second visit to Beijing is quite different to me. I’m happy to see that tennis is popular here. There are so many fans here. They even come to the practice court to watch players’ training. I hope this time I could stay longer.

Q: Did you know Zheng Jie before Wimbledon? What do you think of her?
Ana: I think Zheng is an aggressive player. I need to play good tennis to beat her. She played really well on the grass court in Wimbledon.

Q: People praised you when you won the French Open and reached No.1, but when you lose the game, they keep criticizing you. Do you think it’s unfair, anyway, 2008 is your big year?
Ana: I can’t change what people think about me. In fact I can’t play because of injury in the last months. I even couldn’t hold my racket. I think every player needs to face the injury in the career.
I realize that to succeed, you don’t need to win every game, but to rise from every fall. What I need to do is keeping a positive attitude. I need to give myself time to get back..
