Juan Martin del Potro won his fourth consecutive tennis tournament title, beating Viktor Troicki, 6-3, 6-3, in the final of the Legg Mason Classic at Washington.
The 19-year-old del Potro, ranked No. 19 in the world, has won his last 19 matches since June 25, when he lost to Roger Federer in the second round at Wimbledon.
"I'm very happy," del Potro said following the match. "I don't really understand what I did. I have no words to describe the feeling I have in this moment. It is difficult to believe that I have won four consecutive titles. I just want to enjoy this moment."
"I feel confidence," del Potro said. "Because when I go to the court, and the other players know I beat 19 players in a row and nobody can beat me, it is good for me."
Serbia's Troicki, who knocked off top-seed Andy Roddick in the quarterfinals, on the other hand, felt disappointment to go along with his sore back.
"I'm pretty sad that maybe I couldn't give 100 per cent today," Troicki said. "It's pretty sore, too tight, and I feel it when I move or serve or get ready for a return."
"Right now I feel a little disappointed that I lost," Troicki said. "But this is a normal feeling after losing a match. Overall I am very happy to have played my first ATP final in my career. I will try to enjoy this moment."
