Ana was recently interviewed for Tennis Business Magazine by Russian journalist Alexey Potapov.
The following is an extract from the interview:
Tennis Business Magazine: Ana, it is known that you love the Greek mythology. Who is your favourite mythological character?
Ana: I actually don't read so much Greek mythology these days. My favourite story is about Atlantis. I also admire Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom.
TBM: You have a lot of admirers in Russia. Will you be coming to Russia for the Kremlin Cup?
Ana: Unfortunately it's not on my schedule this year, but I'm sure I will play in Russia sometime in the future – maybe even in Fed Cup.
TBM: In your first two Grand Slam finals it was hard for you to deal with the pressure. After your victory in Paris do you think it will be easier to overcome this kind of pressure in the future?
Ana: I think it will be easier, because now I am more experienced, so I know how to deal with the situation a little better.
TBM: How difficult is it to force yourself to work when you are No.1, the winner of a Grand Slam and you have already achieved so much at the age of 20? What new purposes motivate you again to go out and sweat on the court?
Ana: Motivation isn't a problem. Actually, I feel even more motivated after achieving something like this, because it is proof that your hard work pays off, so you want to continue working hard, to win more titles.
TBM: You were called the “darling of Wimbledon”. Does the public’s support help you in your matches? Or does it put unnecessary pressure, demanding only victories?
Ana: For sure there is more pressure the further you go up the rankings, and the most pressure is when you are No.1. I've always had high expectations of myself, so hopefully I can deal with the pressure that comes with the expectations of others. The support of the public is important, and it definitely helps me.
