Sara Errani wins Palermo

Sara Errani won her first singles title on the WTA Tour with a convincing victory over Mariya Koryttseva in the final of the Internazionali Femminili di Palermo.

The fifth-seeded Italian had upset number one seed and compatriot Flavia Pennetta in the semi-finals on Saturday, and followed up that result with a 6-2 6-3 victory over seventh-seeded Ukrainian Koryttseva.

It was the third meeting between the two players with Errani now holding a 2-1 lead in their head-to-head record.
