ATP announced Monday that Toronto-native Daniel Nestor stands alone as the top-ranked doubles player in the world, following his Wimbledon win Saturday with Serbian Nenad Zimonjic.
The achievement marks the fifth time in his career that Nestor has reached the top spot on Tour, the first since March 21, 2005. He surpasses Bob and Mike Bryan, who led the Tour rankings since April 16, 2007.

“It’s a wonderful feeling and certainly satisfying to be ranked number one” said Nestor. “I’ve worked so hard over the past year to regain positive momentum. Nenad (Zimonjic) and I cherish the win from the weekend at Wimbledon. Being the top-ranked player on Tour is icing on the cake.”
Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic are also first on Stanford ATP Doubles Race list and already qualified for the 2008 Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
