Richard Gasquet, seeded second and the highest-ranked player at No. 15, overcame another Argentine, Agustin Calleri, 6-7 6-2 6-3 to reach Sunday's final, his first this year.

The world number 15 lost the opening set tiebreak of the claycourt encounter before upping his game to record a 6-7 6-2 6-3 win after breaking Calleri twice in each of the last two sets.



Gasquet advanced to his first final of the year, after making only one quarter-final earlier in the season. In his only previous match against del Potro, Gasquet won in two sets at last year's Masters event in Indian Wells.

The 22-year-old Frenchman will face Calleri's compatriot Juan Martin del Potro in Sunday's final.

Del Potro rode his serve against the eighth-seed Schwank, who was in his first career ATP semifinal.

"Incredible, I can hardly believe it," Del Potro told the Associated Press after beating his third straight seeded opponent in the clay-court tournament. "It would be great to take the title back home."
