Serbian President Boris Tadic received sportsmen, leadership and members of the Serbian Olympic Committee delegation who will participate at the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing from 8th till 24th August. Tadic emphasized that he is aware of efforts and training behind each and every of 89 members of our team who will participate under the name of Serbia in the Games for the first time after 96 years.
"Whatever you achieve in Beijing will be enough as it is a great honor to represent Serbia at the Olympics after so long." – underlined Tadic at the reception also attended by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic. The President reminded that Serbia is small in terms of territory, but great by achievements of its sportsmen. Tadic handed over the Serbian flag to shooter Jasna Sekaric who will bear it at the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games.
For Ana Ivanovic this will be first Olympic Games.
"Olympic Games are something new and special for me. After consulting with my coaches, I decided not to go to Los Angeles to defend title, because I couldn't prepare for the Olympics if I did. I would love to win a medal, but it will be strong competition." - said world No.1. Ana Ivanovic who will be from next Monday replaced on the top spot by her compatriot Jelena Jankovic.
