Nenad Zimonjic and his partner Daniel Nestor reached the Roland Garros doubles final on Thursday with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over the Russian pairing of Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov.Daniel Nestor has successfully set himself up for a chance at a second consecutive French Open doubles title.
Nestor and Zimonjic started the match on shaky ground giving up two breaks and suffering their first set loss of the tournament. However, they pulled it together in the end and will now face a very surprising team for the crown. Pablo Cuevas (Uruguay) and Luis Horna (Peru) are the Cinderella story of this year’s doubles draw having defeated the No. 7 seeds and the No. 9 seeds early in the tournament and then the top-seeded Bryan brothers in the quarter-finals.
In today's semis they defeated Serbian Dusan Vemic and his partner Brazilian Bruno Soares 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-6(6).
Nenad Zimonjic will play in one more final, mixed doubles with Slovenia's Kateryna Srebotnik.
Bhupathi and his partner Jie Zheng of China gave walkover to the top-seeded pair Srebotnik/Zimonjic in the last-four stage match, when the Indian could not be match-fit till the last moment.
In the final Zimonjic/Srebotnik will meet Victoria Azarenka (BLR)/Bob Bryan (USA).
