Ivanovic Unmerciful, Jankovic Overcome An Injury

Posted by Lana On 6/01/2008 04:53:00 PM

Ana Ivanovic moved a step closer to winning a first Grand Slam title and by brushing aside Petra Cetkovska in a fourth round mismatch at Roland Garros.

The 20-year-old second seed won 6-0, 6-0 in just 54 minutes to underline her potential winner status.

In four straight sets wins so far, Ana has dropped just 15 games as she bids to go one better than last year in Paris where she lost to the now retired Justine Henin in the final.

"I was much harder than it actually looked," she said. "I played almost without a mistake. She had a lot of chances, but I stepped up and I was really playing my game and making so few unforced errors. I feel very confident going onto the next round."

Ana will next face Patty Schnyder who defeated Katarina Srebotnik 6-2, 6-4.

Jelena Jankovic overcame an injury scare and a stubborn opponent to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open on Sunday, beating Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3 7-6.

"I think the other muscles are compensating, so the whole arm is a mess," Jankovic said.

"I started to feel the pain in the beginning of the second set and since then it's been pain, pain, pain," said the 23-year-old, who will next face Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro.
