David Ferrer made sure of his place in the final of the Ordina Open with a 7-6 (7/4) 6-1 victory over unseeded Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro on Friday.
The top-seeded Spaniard will be making his maiden appearance in a grasscourt final on Saturday when he faces unseeded Frenchman Marc Gicquel, who battled for a 3-6 6-0 6-4 victory against seventh seed Guillermo Canas of Argentina.
Entering this tune-up for Wimbledon - which begins on Monday - Ferrer had won just six of his 13 matches on grass.
"My first final on grass, it's unbelievable," Ferrer told reporters, after wrapping up a one-sided second set.
"It's important to play well before Wimbledon, for the confidence."
