Top-seeded and former champion Nikolay Davydenko and second-seeded and defending titlist Tommy Robredo were Saturday's semifinal winners at the $670,000 Warsaw Open.
Davydenko, who won here in 2006, jumped out to a 5-1 lead and only lost five points on his serve in the first set. He then broke Fognini to take a 3-2 lead in the second, and never faced a break point in the set.
"The match wasn't easy because of the windy conditions. I really needed to concentrate to win and motivate myself. Now I am very happy to be in the final," Davydenko told a news conference.
"In the first set my opponent committed many errors, in the second -- he tried to run a lot. But after this match I don't feel I am well prepared for the final tommorow," he added.
Davydenko advances to his fourth final this year. He titled earlier this year at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami and Poertschach. He also was runner-up in Estoril.
Defending champion Robredo faced 11 breakpoints against Monaco, saving all but one to reach his first ATP Tour final of the year.
