Gisela Dulko of Argentina won her first title this season and third of her career by beating top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) Sunday at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem.
The error-plagued match had 10 service breaks—five by each player.
“I took my opportunities and went for my shots,” Dulko said. “That probably made the difference today.”
Medina Garrigues looked stronger in the first set, taking a 2-0 lead and serving for the opener at 6-5, but the Spaniard was let down by her serve.
“Anabel is a great player, especially here on clay,” Dulko said. “It was a really physical match.”
Medina Garrigues saved a match point to force the tiebreaker, then saved another in it before losing.
